Sometimes bloggers experience a plateau in which things just seem to stop moving forward, and they can even see their business suffer. Sometimes that does happen, and usually it is due to stale content but not always. To make things a little more complicated, maybe it is your traffic source and not your blog - so there is a lot to consider. Here are some things that you need to take a close look at on a regular basis. Bear in mind that you are seeing a more or less bird's eye view, and so it may be premature to be quick to dismiss something if there is something you do not seem to like. You probably know that a great many will overlook or ignore this encouragement, but all that matters is what you will do or are willing to do. One thing we know is that some we know were skeptical about internet marketing until they seriously tested it and saw the results. Yet, as individuals, we do have our preferences even if they can be based on what is not ideal, etc.
Basically, this is all about buyer beware, and you have the responsibility to take care of your self. There are those who will sell you just about anything while telling you it is some undiscovered method that not too many know about yet, those should be alarms. There are many marketers who deal with beginners and these businesses are honest and legitimate, but it is the small percentage who are not honest that cause perception problems. So with all that said, even with us we will recommend you always find out more and do due diligence. This all goes along with the thought of an ounce of prevention, and it is an ounce well spent, possibly.
Your blog needs to have an "About Me" page and you must keep that "About Me" page up to date. Having an out of date "About Me" page is incredibly embarrassing. A good page of this kind will have more than two or three interesting tidbits about you on it. It's your chance to show how the experiences you've had can help you better serve the people reading you. As long as you make sure that the content is informative and entertaining and you keep it up to date, it can be any length you like.
It's hard to impress people when the most recent entry on your About Me page is four years old. Make sure that new visitors don't have to spend a whole lot of time figuring out who you are. New traffic is easy enough to dig up, but new traffic that stays on your site and really delves into the material is quite rare indeed. Make sure that new visitors to your site will immediately be able to tell who you are, what your blog is about and what you have to offer them. You react the same way to blogs that people do to yours, so just maybe look at it like that.
You are wrong if you think that you have no brand, and you still do even if you are an affiliate marketer. If you come across anything that is negative about your brand, then you will have to address it immediately. See if there are corrective actions needed on your part regarding your brand, and you have to know first if they are out there. It's important to stay on top of these things. It is more important to make sure that your brand is actually helping you grow your business. You can find a lot of misconceptions about blogs on the net, and there are a ton of them out there. So do not let it slip through your fingers, and learn what is available with a blog. All the best blogs out there find this to be true, and the bloggers take maximum advantage over this. Once you reach a certain point, then you will see that all this hard work will pay off, but you have to dedicate yourself to this process with your blogging.
