An Introduction to Mobile Marketing



If you have no experience with it, you might think that mobile marketing is mysterious and complex. The fact is, mobile marketing is no more complicated than online marketing, and is actually easier in some ways. Email marketers form mailing lists and market their products and companies by sending out emails on a regular basis; with mobile marketing, you're doing basically the same thing, only via mobile technology. Make sure that your sentences are not long winded. You don't have to ramble on. Utilize email for messages that run a little bit long. You have to know what you want to accomplish. Send a call to action message for everything that you want to accomplish and then move on. A good rule of thumb is around two hundred characters: longer than a tweet but far shorter than an email. If your message calls for something a little longer, then choose a different marketing platform. Most people frown upon long text messages. Make sure that you select the most opportune time of the day to send your message. Obviously, rush hour would be the wrong time. Send your messages when the receiver can safely use his computer. Sure they can always use their phones but if you don't have a mobile site set up, you want the next best thing. Also, take time zones into consideration. You don't want your message to interrupt someone's last fifteen minutes of sleep in the morning or wake them up in the middle of the night. Aim for noon across your broadest customer base and you should have a good success rate with your messages. Your messages most likely will be read and get responses if you can make yourself only send out one message per month.
