Three SEO Myths Proven Wrong

Driving traffic to your site with SEO is one of the most reliable yet oldest methods around. Your site receives visitors who take action because they are both targeted and qualified. The fact that it doesn't cost you even a dollar to send this traffic to your site is another important benefit. But many people are still lagging behind when it comes to ranking well with the search engines. More and more myths are being spread about SEO since it has become so popular and this makes it virtually impossible for many people to understand the intricacies of search engines. If you want to utilize their power, you will need an in-depth understanding of the different components of SEO and how they all come together. We will be debunking some of those myths in this article and you need to know them if you want to have a chance at making SEO work for you.

Using a header tag on your site does not affect your search ranking. Even though many people know that the keywords in the H tags don't do anything to increase your rankings, they still continue to believe in the myth.

By running a few tests, you can test out this myth for yourself. For this reason, use of header tags should be kept to a minimum. If it doesn't fit the site design, skip the use of these tags.

Another common misconception is that search engine optimization is about tricking the search engines into ranking you. What happens when you fool the search engines, though, is that you also wind up tricking the people who find your site through searches. You want traffic that converts, and this is not likely if people have found your site after being fooled by your description. If you want to use true SEO, you have to focus on putting relevant content on your site and building quality backlinks, which the search engines will reward you for.

As long as you are using a method that is honest and based on reality, you can use certain tricks to help you. These are the methods that will actually get you long term results.

Another concept that is simply a myth is that if you buy incoming links from relevant websites your site will be banned. Google doesn't want you buying links, to be honest, and if they knew you paid for the links they would not count because they don't want you trying to artificially influence the rank of your site, but they often aren't aware of the fact. And even if they somehow find out that you bought links, they would just discount them. It simply wouldn't be logical for them to give a site the ban hammer simply because it was advertising its links on other sites. But you should remember that when you're buying links, the same link building rules apply. It doesn't matter if you are purchasing links or not, they still need to come from sites that are relevant to your niche. Even though SEO takes a lot of work to be effective for your site, the effort is worth it in the long term. The most effective way to learn it is through your own experience and you are better off doing it this way than falling for all these myths that don't have one kernel of truth to them.
