Having the right subject line can mean much better returns for your email marketing efforts. Without having the right subject line, how can you expect to get your emails opened? You don't have to be a marketing genius to learn how to write a decent subject line. Subject lines do require you to think like a copywriter and come up with attention grabbing statements or questions. Creating a good subject line is no different than writing a headline to convey your message. Before you can present your main offer to the reader, you have to convince him or her to open your email. If your subject line triggers a spam filter, your message will never be seen. In order to prevent your message from ending up in spam folders, you have to stay away from certain words. This is critical, as it could lead to your emails never being seen at all. That's why you have to pay close attention to this when writing your subject lines.

It's a mistake to try to hard sell the prospect in the subject line. Making the subject line too obviously commercial may prevent people from opening it. Don't be in such a hurry to make a sale that you try to accomplish this in your subject line. Your subject line is only an introduction to your offer, so keep hype to a minimum.
